"Water-resistant jewelry" is jewelry that can withstand water in everyday life - such as hand washing and light rain - without changing expression quickly. It's all about the material and surface. Stainless steel and solid gold typically withstands water better than plated jewelry such as gold plated. Gold plated sterling silver 925 is real sterling silver (92.5% silver) with a thin layer of gold on the surface, which gives a warm gold colored look. Gold plating is typically done with gold in approximately 18-22 carats, and the color can therefore vary in tone. As the coating is a surface, the finish is best maintained with gentle use and proper care.
