Bracelets, necklaces and anklets - types and length guide
When a bracelet or necklace is adjustable, it means that the length can be adjusted so that the jewelry is not just one fixed size. This makes the piece more flexible and easier to style depending on how you want it to fit.
At A-Hjort, we distinguish between two types of adjustable size:
Adjustable in intervals
This type means that the jewelry can be closed in several fixed lengths within a certain span. For example, it can be specified as cm. Here you choose between the lengths the chain is made for, typically via several loops in the extension chain.
Adjustable within a range
This type means that the jewelry can be customized within an overall length range. For example, it can be specified as 17-20 cm or 45-49 cm. Here the measurement shows the range within which the jewelry can be adjusted, rather than individual fixed stops.
What is the benefit of adjustable sizing?
Adjustable jewelry offers more flexibility in fit and makes it easier to adapt the jewelry to your style, layering and comfort. You can wear it closer to the skin or slightly looser, depending on the look and occasion.
Here you see jewelry that can be adjusted within a certain range, for example from 45 to 49 cm, giving more flexibility in length.
Here you see jewelry that can be adjusted between several fixed lengths, for example 45, 47 and 49 cm, so you can choose the fit that suits you best.
One Size means that the jewelry comes in one fixed size. Unlike adjustable jewelry, the length here is not made to be changed and the jewelry is therefore worn in the size it is designed in.
One Size is often used on bracelets and necklaces where the fit is intended to be a fixed length rather than a model with multiple settings. This makes for a simple and straightforward choice if you prefer a piece of jewelry with a more classic and fixed fit.
The advantage of One Size is that you get a piece of jewelry with a clear and fixed expression without having to consider multiple length choices. This can be a good solution if the design is made to fit a certain way or if the jewelry itself has a shape that makes adjustment unnecessary.
At A-Hjort, One Size therefore means that the jewelry is not adjusted in length, but worn in the fixed size it is made in. This makes it easy to tell the difference between One Size and adjustable models where the length can be customized.

When it comes to bracelets, you'll also find bangles and bangles. They still fall under the bracelet category, but differ from classic chain bracelets by having a more solid and dimensionally stable construction.
Bangles and bangles are rigid bracelets that keep their shape when worn. They give a clean and elegant look and are popular because they can be worn alone as a single statement piece or paired with other bracelets for a more personal look.
Some bangles and bracelets have a smooth and classic surface, while others can be organic, textured, wide, narrow or embellished with stones and small details. This makes them versatile and easy to customize for both a simple everyday look and more distinctive styling.
They are also available in both open and closed models. An open bangle will often be adjustable or more flexible in fit, while a closed bangle is typically one size and has a fixed shape. This makes it easier to choose the type that best suits both comfort and style.
The difference is often that a bangle is typically more round and closed in shape, while a bangle can also be open and easier to put on. However, both types are considered bracelets and can be found as part of the bracelet category at A-Hjort.
