A little Mother's Day history
Did you know that the idea of Mother's Day actually dates back to the United States in 1872? It was a woman named Julia Ward Howe who came up with the idea of a day dedicated to honoring mothers. Julia was an American author and advocate for women's suffrage. Julia's idea of Mother's Day never really took hold, however, until her own daughter, Anna, began working to get recognition for the day that honored mothers. Her project succeeded, and throughout the 1900s the concept spread to the rest of the United States. The concept came to Denmark as early as 1929.
