Maanesten was founded in 2010 by jewelry designer Lotte Callesen, who wanted to create a dreamy universe of feminine, spiritual and handmade jewelry. "Water-resistant jewelry" is jewelry that can withstand water in everyday life - such as hand washing and light rain - without changing expression quickly. It's all about the material and surface. Stainless steel and solid gold typically withstands water better than plated jewelry such as gold plated. In some cases, the following are also used PVD treatment (Physical Vapor Deposition), where a very thin, hard coating "bonds" to the surface and can provide better wear resistance than traditional coating - but it's still a surface that can eventually wear out depending on use. Freshwater pearls are genuine, naturally formed pearls created inside freshwater mussels and known for their soft, elegant lustre. Unlike mother-of-pearl, which is material from the shell, freshwater pearls are the pearl itself—often round or slightly oval with natural variations.
